The Most Efficient Way To Take Notes On The Lecture

How to take notes

Why is it necessary to take notes?

Taking notes is the most common kind of writing. If the essay writing, the reports or the presentations have their own niche, the notes are worldwide because they are not necessarily chained to the school, university or work. People use it all over the world to remember something that they will need later. It is the fastest way to retain particular information. Even when the notes are like: “To call the mum” or “To pick up clothes from the dry-cleaning” it is more reliable to write it down than to take a mental note. People are prone to forget anything especially these days when the life runs at a frantic pace. However, there is some difference between the home notes and the academic ones.

The academic vs the home notes

The main difference between those kinds of notes is that the academic notations are written faster, so there is no time to think about it enough. Moreover, they are supposed to save the unfamiliar information that the brain will have to learn later when or the papers. It means that the notes made at the university or work have to keep far more word-by-word information for the less time. Meanwhile, they must be fastidious and understandable. Regarding the home notes, they can be written in a freestyle by one’s own words. As a rule, such kind of notes is shorter, easier, and far more familiar.

How to prepare yourself for taking notes

First, you have to be prepared if you know that you will need to take notes. For that purpose, you can use either paper or computer. It is up to you to decide what kind of writing you will use. However, according to the Princeton’s researchers, taking notes on a laptop is almost twice as fast as on the paper. This study shows the average results because the actual speed will depend on your typing and writing skills. If you are good at writing papers and typing, you will have the speed advantage while taking notes on a computer.

Although, there is a link between the speed of taking notes and the memory. When you take notes too fast, you do not have time to analyze the incoming information. Thus, you will remember less on the exam unless you go over your notes after the lecture. This regularity has a place in such case because your brain stops to perceive the meaning of the words and focuses on the syntax. With the paper notes, you pay more attention to the words your teacher says. Furthermore, paper requires less self-control because you write automatically without thinking about the syntax.

How to take notes

There are three main methods with the writing tips.

1. The outline method. It is the easier method when you write down the bullets you hear at the lecture. Your note can look like the list.
          Main idea 1
  1. Subtopic 1
    • Example
    • Example
  2. Subtopic 2
    • Example
          Main idea 2

2. The Cornell method. In this case, you have to split your sheet into the three sections and type the notes in the particular zone.
  1. Notes – record the lecture.
  2. Clues – write the main ideas, related questions, diagrams, etc.
  3. Summary – review the top ideas. This section you should fill when the lecture is over.

3. The mind-mapping method. Use different types of diagrams, graphs, and schemes to record the lecture material and keep the connection between the topics. This method fits more if you take notes with the pen and paper.

In conclusion, remember, that different classes require different methods. So practice each of them to understand which one is better for each type of lectures or use some affordable custom writing service.

February 06, 2016 0

Last January 24 to 30, Davaoenos were treated to educational booths, exciting promos, and a free concert featuring Sun Life father-son ambassadors Piolo and Inigo Pascual.

Beginning the journey.

A string of activities guided participants to begin their own #LiveFreePH journey. In a bold move, they declared their vision of financial freedom with the “Live Free Freedom Wall.” Then they looked at their current situation, shared their outlook about the future, and pledged support to a community in need through BLISS or “Brighter Life Index: Social Sentiment.” And by joining the “Sun CeleBright” promo, they won free trips to their chosen destinations!
But what made the #LiveFreePH Tour brighter were the Sun Life advisors ready to help those who want to jumpstart their financial freedom journey. Some were so inspired that they chose to become financial advisors themselves.

Pursuing the mission.

In front of a jubilant and captivated crowd, the “Freedom Celebration” concert headlined by Piolo and Inigo amplified the mission of financial independence for everyone. Aside from belting his signature hits, Piolo serenaded the winners of the hugely popular “Selfie with Papa P” - where longtime fans get to meet their idol and take home a photo souvenir. Inigo also showed off his dance moves and energized the night with today's popular hits.
“We want Filipinos to believe that a brighter future is possible. We want them to be inspired to take on their own path towards financial freedom. And that they can start this meaningful journey with the help of our financial advisors,” said Sun Life Chief Marketing Officer Mylene Lopa. The #LiveFreePH Freedom Tour kicked off last year with stops in Pampanga and Iloilo.

Add Significant Equity to the House With This Home Improvement Projects

January 30, 2016 0

A lot of homeowners will limit their budget to approximately $5000 for any type of big remodeling project around the house. For homeowner who loves to do DIY (Do It Yourself) projects to significantly improve the interior of your home, many of the projects are small enough that will not break the bank or overextend the budget, but will provide additional equity to the home, once the project has been completed.

Here are some of the things that can you do to enhance the beauty of your home and improve its functionality.

1. Installing a Wood Fence
For less than $5000, it is easy to add a wood fence around the exterior of the property. This type of fence can add significant value to the home’s existing landscaping. They can also provide backyard privacy, or be used as a containment for dogs. In addition, installing a wood fence as a home improvement project adds an additional layer of security to the home.
Installing a wood fence can easily fit into most homeowner’s budget. They can be installed as a small picket fence, or paneling that has been pre-assembled, and only requires the upright post and some heavy lifting.

2. Replacing the Heat Pump
Heat pump air conditioning systems are only designed to last between 10 and 12 years, and that is with proper maintenance every year. As the home begins to age, many homeowners are faced with the idea that their home improvement project will be nothing more than replacing the existing heat pump air conditioning system. For less than $5000, a professional air conditioning company can replace the interior air handler, and the exterior condenser, and have the home heated and cooled properly for decades to come.
A newly installed heat pump air conditioning system is more cost-effective because it can make the home more energy-efficient. It can significantly reduce the amount of energy that is consumed just maintaining the heat or cooling year-round.

3. Painting the Exterior of the Home
One of the most common home improvement projects for the do-it-yourselfer is painting the exterior of their home. Often times, the siding can become sun-bleached, and take on a washed out appearance. A fresh coat of paint can easily put on a fresh sheen to the exterior of the home.
High quality paint for the exterior of the home along with all the necessary supplies can typically be purchased for less than $3000, which is significantly lower than the budget. It can protect the siding of the home for decades, especially when it is applied properly. Depending on the type of siding installed on the house, whether it is fiber-cement, vinyl or stucco, a fresh coat of exterior paint can add a high level of protection.

There are significant ways to add extra value to the equity of the home. By selecting the right types of home improvement projects, any homeowner can increase the home’s value, while enhancing its appearance or functionality.

Health Tips for Your Plans of Losing Weight

August 16, 2015 0

The logic of losing weight is simple. Both eating and exercising must go hand in hand. But in real life, maintaining a healthy weight is hard and losing weight is harder. You must create a diet program that gives a good deal of fulfilling choice that won’t bore you, avoid the difficulty in dieting and learning to acquire a healthy relationship with your food intake.

The more calories that you take than burning it, you gain weight. If your food intake is fewer calories than burning it, you lose weight. This is an uncomplicated equation but even some people have trouble with carrying out this task. Lot of them succeeded but many have failed it too.

In order to be productive in your weight loss plans, begin by thinking of this program as a lifelong commitment. Your mind and soul must be ready. Losing weight quickly is not good because you are typically losing water and muscle rather than your fat so aim to lose weight gradually.

Keeping a Food Journal

Taking down notes on every food you chomp and drink you sip in your food journal is a good tool for dieting. It tracks what food you are eating and how much are you consuming. You can also try to put the equivalent calories right next to your food entry.

Keeping Low-fat Snacks

Some good low-fat snacks are sweet potatoes, salted popcorn and low-fat yoghurt. A healthy bar for your snack is also a helping hand whenever going out of your house. Choose low-fat snacks instead of ice cream or pizza.

Steer Clear of Fatty Foods

When losing weight, you must steer clear of any kinds of fatty foods. If you’re cooking, try to use minimal usage of oil. Some of our food has natural oil so there is no more need of having spoonfuls of cooking oil.

Drink Lots of Water

By drinking lots of water, you are staying hydrated which increases your metabolism and prevent hunger pangs. It also improves your skin complexion and slows down aging process.

The tips mentioned above are some of the important keys in achieving your diet program. Risks in your health are niftier if you are carrying your weight around your abdomen. Belly fat which surrounds the abdominal organs and liver is linked to diabetes and insulin resistance.
