Wordcamp Philippines 2009

I have attended the Wordcamp Philippines 2009 today and there was a lot of things in blogging that I have learned and discovered.
Beau Lebens, one of the developers in Automatic gave us an intoduction to Wordpress Family. Markku Seguerra talks about "WordPress in the Wild" its actually more on security tips of your blog. Danilo Arao who flew from Korea talks about "Citizen Journalism in the Context of the 2010 Elections". Seth Bindernagel representative of Mozilla Firefox gave us some updates on Mozilla Firefox latest version and its unique features.Coy Caballes share his knowledge on video blogging. Jeff Villafranca talks about "The Editorial Voice and Taste in Writing Tech", this is more on the tech blogs tips. Gail Villanueva discussed a hardcore part of blogging the "Advanced WP: Portfolio & Directory Sites". And lastly, Karla Redor for "WP: The Ultimate Content Management System".

The Digital Filipino Event

After a couple of weeks coordinating with Miss Janette Toral for the details of The DigitalFilipino.com Club and Bloggers Cagayan De Oro Networking Event and for inviting all bloggers in the city finally the event was a success last Friday Night. The event was held at Phil town hotel and was sponsored by Syntactics. I had fun learning and getting to know the bloggers and stories behind the past 2 years Top 10 Influetial blogs. Miss Aileen Apolo also shared her experience and the benefits she gained after nominated and being one of the Top Influential Blogs for 2 consecutive years. I was honestly encouraged and motivated to blog more from the topics tackled. I even want my blogs to be in the Top 10 Influential Blogs, hopefully next year since my blogs are not yet qualified for this year. However I am now gathering my Top 10 Influential Blogs of 2009 which I would like to be nominated and I hope they will make it through the Top 10. Ms Janette Toral also shares to us on how to become a member of Digital Filipino and its benefits. She also shared there new sites like Blog4Reviews which will provide advertiser promotions of their product online and for bloggers to have an additional income.

After Ms Janette Toral and Ms. Aileen Apolo talk the dinner takes place. We were served with tasty sweet and sour, yummy pansit, fried chicken and fruit salad which we really enjoyed. And while eating, Syntactics shared about there company history, services and there contribution to IT industry in Cagayan de Oro City through there project LetIThelp.org.

The night ended with raffle draws for those who has register online and giving of prizes those who got the right answers for the question ask. Ms Janette also announce that she will be giving a 10 pouch gifts from Jupiter Suites for the first to blog about the event. And its not only a pouch bag there will also be an accommodation voucher from Jupiter Suites - a budget hotel in Makati City.

DigitalFilipino.com Club and Bloggers Cagayan De Oro Networking Event

The DigitalFilipino.com Club headed by Miss Janette Toral is organizing a fellowship / networking event where e-commerce industry players and bloggers can catch up and exchange updates. This will be on July 17, Friday, 6 to 11 pm at Philtown Hotel, Makahambus-Velez Streets, Cagayan De Oro City.

Blogging 101 Workshop

After a few weeks of preparations finally the Blogging 101 Workshop hosted by CDOBloggers ended with a bang last Saturday, May 23, 2009 at Sentro 1850, Cagayan de Oro. Registration of participants started at 1 o’clock then at 2:30 pm the program started.

The speakers tackled:
  1. Setting-Up your Blog
    - Blogspot, Wordpress and others
  2. Blog Writing
    - Types of Blogs (photoblogs, video blog, personal blog etc.), Niche Blogging, Blog Ethics
  3. Blog Promotion and Marketing
    - Driving Traffic, SEO
  4. Monetizing
    - Paid Posts
The event was participated by 72 people. Some participants took the chance to ask questions and gave suggestions. They even received some prizes like free domain and hosting and ILOVECDO T-shirts. After the program participants were a given a chance to take photos along with their certificates.

Hope to see more bloggers on the DigitalFilipino Club and Bloggers Cagayan de Oro City Networking Event on June 20, 2009 from 11am to 2pm.
